I Just Have One Quick Question

By Jeff Medcalf

Have we actually reached the point in this country where a major party’s candidate has “I like puppies” as his entire platform, and the other has “I like America” as his entire platform? I keep hoping, you see, that I am imagining this.

  1. It really isn’t a new development, sir.  Anything said in a campaign is for “ooohhing” and “ahhhing” at but really means nothing.  it’s been that way since, well, Reagan.

“Read…  My…  Lips…  NO new taxes”  and then what?  BAM!  New taxes.

One could use as an example, a myriad of campaign statements from Bush, Jr. that would lead one to believe that he would be a fiscal conservative, but he was well into his second term before he even THREATENED to veto a spending bill, and spending under his watch has gone through the roof!

Don’t even get me started on clinton.

Politicians are liars and crooks.  They are the proverbial “turds that floated to the top of the punchbowl”.  If I can take any solace in our position at all, it is that McCain, at least, carries the PRETENSE that he is a honest man.  Most other politicians dont even bother with that!
